The eyes of the sporting world will be on Northern Italy for the next two weeks. The Winter Olympics get underway on Feb. 6 and continue until Feb. 22.

There are 16 different sports disciplines on display at the games, with 116 medal events across the fortnight.

The headliner may just be the Men’s Hockey Tournament, which features NHL players for the first time since 2014.

Team Canada is the betting favorite to win that event, but it’s Norway that is the favorite to accrue the most medals during the Winter Olympics. The Norwegians also top the board for most gold medals in the competition.

Odds to win the most gold medals

  • Norway -163
  • USA +400
  • Germany +500
  • Canada +750
  • Italy 16/1
  • Netherlands 20/1

List of events

  • Alpine Skiing
  • Bobsleigh
  • Biathlon
  • Cross-Country Skiing
  • Curling
  • Figure Skating
  • Freestyle Skiing
  • Ice Hockey
  • Luge
  • Nordic Combined
  • Short Track Speed Skating

How to bet on the Winter Olympics

Depending on your state and its rules about legalized sports betting, there are markets for just about every event at the Winter Olympics.

For some events, like Curling or Ice Hockey, you can bet on individual matchups, as well as futures. For example, you can bet Team USA to win gold at the Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament at +200, but you can also wager on their individual games.

Other events will just have futures markets up.

While some states will allow you to bet on any event, others have rules in place that will forbid you from wagering on competitions that are decided by judges.

Those states will allow you to bet on events that are decided by a final score (like hockey or curling) or a race (speed skating, etc.).

No matter what sport you choose to wager on, be sure to bet responsibly.
