Brittany Mahomes said she felt “so thankful” after her husband, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was medically cleared to return from last year’s season-ending left knee injury.
Taking to her Instagram story on Saturday, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model reshared the team’s video of Mahomes arriving at Missouri Western State’s campus for training camp on Friday.
“Seeing him back doing what he loves,” Brittany, 30, wrote, per US Magazine. “So thankful 🙏.”
Mahomes — who underwent surgery after he tore his ACL and LCL in a loss to the Chargers on Dec. 14 — joked that he was filmed at a “bad angle” in the comments.
“I feel stronger than I’ve ever felt, as far as strength and lifting [weights],” the three-time Super Bowl champ said Friday. “I feel amazing. … I’m excited just to be able to play football.
“I’ve been seeing cinderblock walls rehabbing every single day in Kansas City. Now, to be on that practice field with my teammates, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The Chiefs’ medical staff and Dr. Dan Cooper, the Cowboys’ head team physician who performed Mahomes’ surgery, cleared the quarterback on Wednesday to fully participate in camp.
“I’m optimistic and I know he is,” Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said of Mahomes. “He’s extremely optimistic. But I think you’ve got to see how things go.
“Let’s just see where we’re at and not make any predictions or anything else. Take it day by day and see where it goes.”
Mahomes has made it clear that he is determined to be back for Week 1 when the Chiefs open the 2026 season at home against the defending AFC West champion Broncos.
He tore his ACL and LCL in his left knee with less than two minutes remaining in the Chiefs’ 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.
The loss eliminated the Chiefs from the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era.
