WASHINGTON — Obviously, the jury is still out on the majority of Mike Brown’s schemes and rotations and adjustments and personnel choices. That won’t change until the end of the playoffs.

But we can confidently declare, as of Feb. 3, that Brown was correct about Landry Shamet.

“I watched tape before I got the job,” the Knicks coach said. “I was a fan of his. And I just saw the things that he did out there out on the floor last year and I was like, ‘Wow. This guy can be really good on both ends of the floor.’ And that was something that I came in saying early in the process.”

As we reported previously, Brown was the biggest advocate for Shamet. He pushed to re-sign the 28-year-old guard, despite desires from others in the organization to look elsewhere. When the Knicks were deciding which non-guaranteed contract to keep after training camp, Brown again campaigned for Shamet.
