Frank Castle is back.

Jon Bernthal returns to the role of Frank Castle / The Punisher for the fourth time as he headlines “The Punisher: One Last Kill,” an MCU special presentation premiering tonight, May 12, on Disney+.

The special will follow the lethal vigilante as he “searches for meaning” beyond exacting revenge for the murder of his family (as shown in Netflix’s “Daredevil” Season 2). However, “an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”

Bernthal co-wrote the episode with director Reinaldo Marcus Green, marking the actor’s second screenwriting credit in one week — he co-wrote and stars in “The Bear” prequel “Gary,” which dropped on Hulu last Tuesday.

Viewers last saw Castle when “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 1 wrapped up in May 2025; The Punisher and Daredevil teamed up to take on members of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, and the episode ended with Castle escaping from his prison cell. Castle was absent from “Born Again” Season 2, so it’s expected that “One Last Kill” will fill viewers in on what he was doing as the events of that season took place.

The one-off special will likely lead into the events of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which comes out on July 31. Bernthal will reprise his role as The Punisher in his first theatrical MCU appearance, per the film’s official trailer.
