A series adaptation of a critically acclaimed Martin Scorsese movie is coming to Apple TV.
“Cape Fear,” based on the 1991 Martin Scorsese/Robert De Niro collaboration of the same name premieres today, June 5, on Apple’s streaming service.
The story, which has been altered slightly for its series adaptation, follows criminal Sam Cady (Javier Bardem) as he is released from prison and intends to exact revenge on the married couple (Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson) who represented him in court 17 years earlier by using his knowledge of the law to evade punishment.
Scorsese is an executive producer on this new iteration, alongisde Steven Spielberg, whose Amblin Entertainment produced the 1991 film.
In her review of the “slick, stylish — and brutal” series, The Post TV reporter Lauren Sarner says, “if you just want a sun-drenched, blood-soaked thriller series, it’s a compelling watch.”
