The second-highest grossing movie of the year so far is now available to stream from the comfort of your own living room.
“Project Hail Mary,” from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, has made over $650 million at the worldwide box office to date since its theatrical premiere on March 20. It makes its streaming debut today, May 12, on platforms including Prime Video.
The film, inspired by Andy Weir’s novel of the same name, stars Ryan Gosling as Dr. Ryland Grace, a middle school science teacher who wakes up on a spacecraft — the Hail Mary — with no memory of who he is or why he’s in deep space. Through flashbacks, we learn he’s been given an impossible task: save Earth’s sun, which is being eaten by a mysterious microorganism, from dying.
With the help of an unexpected alien friend named Rocky, whose planet is also plagued with the same impending doom, Grace finds he may not have to save the world on his own.
In his 3.5 star review of the “hugely entertaining” film, noti.group’s entertainment critic Johnny Oleksinski wrote, “[“Project Hail Mary”] is so much fun. It tugs at the heartstrings often, and Rocky is so brilliantly animated to the point of complete believability. Gosling is great.”

‘Project Hail Mary’ DVD, Blu-ray and 4K release date
While you can stream “Project Hail Mary” at home now, some may prefer a physical alternative to owning movies digitally, because there’s always the chance that rights may be revoked and you’ll lose that digital access.
The release date for 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD copies of “Project Hail Mary” is August 11, but a preorder is not live yet.
