The Giants’ special teams ace may be lost for the year in May.

Gunner Olszewski was carted off the practice field on Friday, and the team fears that he tore his Achilles, which would likely end his 2026 season before it even began.

Olszewski will undergo additional testing to confirm the injury, but it’s a brutal break for the special teams savant, who also played sparingly on the team’s offense as things fell apart last season.

The Giants’ wide receiver had a career high of 145 receiving yards and his second career touchdown last season, while also posting one of the highlights of the whole NFL season during a game against the Detroit Lions.

As a returner, he compiled 682 kickoff return yards and 216 punt return yards for Big Blue.

Olszewski threw a 33-yard touchdown pass against the Detroit Lions to Giants backup quarterback Jameis Winston, who caught a jump ball and broke multiple tackles to carry himself into the endzone for a touchdown.

The Giants wound up losing that game 34-27 in an otherwise pitiful regular season that saw them go 4-13 and pick No. 5 overall in the NFL Draft.

Big Blue wound up selecting Arvell Reese with the pick.

Things are expected to take a major step in the right direction in 2026 with new coach John Harbaugh leading the program for the proud franchise.

Harbaugh opted to keep Olszewski around despite his free-agent status and signed him to a one-year deal with the Giants in March.

An open roster spot at receiver could further suggest the Giants are bringing back Odell Beckham Jr., who Harbaugh has publicly said could be in the mix for the team before this injury.
