Sunday Night Football is kicking into high gear for NFL Week 1 with two very familiar teams going head-to-head out of the gates.

The Giants host the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium for the opening week Sunday nightcap. It’s the seventh time the two teams will have opened the season against each other since 2012 and the most recent meeting among those games was a brutal 40-0 wipeout loss for the G-Men.

Oddsmakers have the Cowboys listed as favorites by a thin margin. Dallas is a 1.5-point favorite and -130 on the moneyline with the Over/Under opening at 47.5 at DraftKings.

The Giants beat the Cowboys 34-17 in the final week of the season last year, a game that Dak Prescott and the Cowboys essentially punted on at halftime.

Neither team had anything to play for aside from draft position, the Giants went into halftime with a 16-10 lead, and the Cowboys elected to have quarterback Joe Milton take the hits for Prescott instead.

On the other side, quarterback Jaxson Dart finished the game 22-of-32 with 230 yards, two passing touchdowns and 32 yards on the ground.

Both the Giants and Cowboys have been busy in the offseason.

The Giants hired John Harbaugh to take over as head coach, traded Dexter Lawrence, the staple of their defensive line for seven seasons, and landed the top linebacker, Arvell Reese, and top offensive tackle, Francis Mauigoa, in the 2026 draft.

The Cowboys took top safety Caleb Downs in the draft and replaced defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus with former Eagles defensive passing game coordinator Christian Parker.

Betting on the NFL?

The Cowboys allowed the second-most points and fifth-most yards last season with a defense that couldn’t hold up against a strong breeze.

While the Week 1 line between the two teams is tight, oddsmakers give the Cowboys a much higher ceiling. The Cowboys have -105 odds to make the playoffs, -155 odds to go Over 8.5 wins, and the second-shortest odds (+225) to win the NFC East.

The Giants have the longest odds (+600) to win the NFC East, -110 odds on each side of their 7.5 win total Over/Under, and +250 odds to make the playoffs.
