The Giants have added yet another candidate in their search for a new head coach, this one a scion of football royalty.
Big Blue requested an interview with Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, Sports Illustrated reported Sunday.
The Dolphins and Titans also requested an interview with Shula.
The 39-year-old is the grandson of legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula and the son of former NFL assistant Dave Shula.
His uncle, Mike Shula, was the Giants’ offensive coordinator in 2018 and ’19.
Shula, whose Rams defeated the Panthers Saturday in the wild-card round, can interview for head coaching jobs as early as Tuesday.
Chris Shula has been rising up the ranks on Sean McVay’s staff since joining the Rams in 2017 as an assistant linebackers coach.
In 2019, Shula became the Rams’ outside linebackers coach before being named linebackers coach two years later.
Shula was promoted to passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2022.
A year later, he went back to coaching linebackers while also taking on the title of pass rush coordinator before becoming defensive coordinator in 2024.
The Rams allowed 20.4 points per game during the 2025 regular season, 10th-best in the NFL, and they were fifth in takeaways with 26.
Between formal requests, interest, virtual and in-person interviews, the Giants’ list of coaching targets includes fired Ravens coach John Harbaugh; former Super Bowl winner and free agent Mike McCarthy; fired Browns coach Kevin Stefanski; fired Falcons coach Raheem Morris; ex-Giant Antonio Pierce; another ex-Giant and current Broncos assistant Davis Webb; Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph; Broncos special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi; Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak; Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka.
