Davante Adams roasts Jets' drought before Rams' wild-card win

Davante Adams only spent 11 games with the Jets, but that didn’t stop Gang Green from catching strays during the star wideout’s interview with Fox ahead of the Rams’ playoff victory over the Panthers on Saturday.

Adams, while sitting next to Puka Nacua and across from the network’s Charissa Thompson, fielded a question from Nacua about what Adams learned from past losses “that you think would help us right now.”

“To be honest, I think that kinda brings you to the Kobe mentality, you know, where it’s like, you see why he wasn’t smiling after they won that game because the job’s not done,” Adams said during the segment. “Your main objective is to win the whole thing. You’ve gotta find a way to be gritty, and resilient within those games, because if you don’t bring your best stuff, you’re gonna be at home with the Jets two seconds after that.”

The Jets’ playoff drought reached 15 seasons when they were officially eliminated during their loss to the Dolphins in December, and in Year 14 of the stretch, they brought in Adams — through a trade with the Raiders — to pair him with Aaron Rodgers and see if they could rekindle some of their old chemistry.

It backfired, as he collected 854 yards and seven touchdowns — with Gang Green finishing the season 5-12.

But Adams signed a two-year deal with the Rams and thrived alongside Nacua and quarterback Matthew Stafford, collecting 789 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns during the regular season before catching another five passes for 72 yards during Los Angeles’ 34-31 win Saturday.

The six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro failed to hit the 1,000-yard mark, but he still carved out a critical role on the offense that averaged the most yards per game (394.6) and points per game (30.5) in the NFL during the regular season.

Gang Green hasn’t gotten any closer to appearing in its first postseason game since 2011, either, as they went 3-14 in Aaron Glenn’s first season as head coach, traded a pair of stars — in Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner — ahead of the trade deadline and are still searching for their next franchise quarterback.

Los Angeles will face the No. 2-seeded Bears in the divisional round next weekend if the 49ers win Sunday, and they’ll face No. 1-seeded Seahawks if the Eagles emerge with a victory against San Francisco.
