Andrew Thomas did not practice on Wednesday, but that does not mean he will not be able to make his season debut for the Giants on Sunday against the Cowboys.

Having Thomas sit out the practice is part of the rehab plan set in motion by the training staff, coach Brian Daboll said.

“Hoping to get him out here the next two days and see where he’s at at the end of the week,” Daboll said.

Instead of practicing, Thomas was set to go through running and “some other things,” Daboll said.

Thomas missed the entire preseason recovering from surgery to repair a Lisfranc fracture suffered against the Bengals last October, just six games into the 2024 season.

“I know he feels better,” Daboll said. “He felt better last week, he feels better this week than the week before. He’s making good progress.”

The Giants certainly missed their starting left tackle in their season-opening 21-6 loss to the Commanders.

The offensive line was abysmal, failing to open holes in the run game (30 total yards from three running backs) and failing to adequately protect quarterback Russell Wilson, who was sacked twice and hit eight times.

Thomas’ replacement at left tackle, James Hudson III, did not have a strong showing, which gave him something in common with the other four starters on the line.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers was set to be limited in practice, as the Giants are taking it easy on their top offensive weapon as he deals with a lingering back issue.

Another receiver, Wan’Dale Robinson, was held out of practice with an ankle issue. “He should be good,’’ Daboll said about Robinson’s availability later in the week.

Nose tackle Dexter Lawrence was not at practice, as his wife gave birth to the couple’s first child.
