Logan Webb wasn’t the only member of the Giants who came out of Tuesday night’s tilt with the Padres a little beat up.
Shortly after the San Francisco ace was pulled following a poor performance on the mound, a Giants ball woman was seen faceplanting while trying chasing down a foul ball.
In the eighth inning of the contest at Oracle Park, Bryce Eldridge lined a Jason Adam pitch down the first base line that caromed into right field.
A woman, decked out in a baseball uniform and batting helmet, assigned by the Giants to gather loose balls then gave it chase, but after she finally corralled it, she took a gnarly tumble onto the foul territory dirt.
Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper, the game’s announcers who were watching the scene unfold while live on the broadcast, implored the woman to get up, and when she did seemingly without much harm, they applauded.
“Atta girl,” Krukow said. “Sometimes your feet get heavy by the eighth inning.”
It was a tough night all the way around for the Giants. Webb gave up six earned runs in four innings, and the team managed just eight hits in a 10-5 loss.
San Francisco won’t have to wait long for a shot a redemption, however — first pitch of the series finale with San Diego is slated for 12:45 p.m. PT Wednesday.
