Dart vs. Dak is on.

The New York Giants just announced that they’re going to take on the Dallas Cowboys in their 2026 home opener at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 8:20 p.m.

In addition to being a continuation of the two NFC East franchises’ longtime rivalry, the Sunday Night Football game will also mark John Harbaugh’s debut as Big Blue’s Head Coach.

Other Giants making their first appearance with the club that evening include blue chip draft picks Arvell Reese, Francis Mauigoa, Colton Hood, Malachi Fields and Bobby Jamison-Travis as well as splashy offseason acquisitions like tight end Isaiah Likely, wideout Calvin Austin III, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, wide receiver Darnell Mooney, punter Jordan Stout and Dexter Lawrence replacements Shelby Harris and DJ Reader.

Injured phenom running back Cam Skattebo is also set to return after going down with a season-ending dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula last October.

Dating back to 1965, the Giants and Cowboys have met in the first game of the season 12 times; Dallas has won 11 of those matchups.

New York’s sole victory came in September 2016 when Eli Manning threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns clinching the 20-19 victory over Prescott in his first career NFL game (who took over for Tony Romo who fell prey to a vertebral compression fracture in a preseason contest).

Over the past decade since that lone W, Prescott and co. have come out on top in Week 1 against the Giants in 2017, 2019 and 2023 (in a commanding 40-0 shutout).

That’s just a sampling of the Giants’ trouble when it comes to the first game of the season.

“First, the Giants are 2-13 in their last 15 season-openers, including 1-8 since 2017,” The Post reported. “Second, the Giants are 7-22-1 within the NFC East over the last five seasons.”

Hopefully, Harbaugh really does usher in a new era.
