Basketball is back as the Knicks host the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden to kickstart their 2025-26 NBA season.

Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and company start their 82-game quest against a familiar foe in Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs.

Mike Brown’s head coaching tenure in New York begins as the Knicks officially take the floor for the first time in the post-Tom Thibodeau era.

The Blue and Orange are -145 favorites ahead of the game, garnering 57 percent of the bets wagered on the moneyline, per BetMGM data.

Tipoff for the Knicks’ home opener is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

What our Post expert thinks about Knicks vs. Cavaliers

The Knicks made some solid additions in the off-season, adding perimeter scoring in Jordan Clarkson and frontcourt depth in Guerschon Yabusele. However, two key pieces of the rotation (Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson) may not be available as both are battling injuries.

Cleveland will be without starting point guard Darius Garland, but will still feature a frontcourt duo of Evan Mobley and ex-Net Jarrett Allen. Mitchell is their leading scorer, and they are fresh off averaging an NBA-best 121.9 points per game last season.

The Knicks will need to crash the boards, and Towns, more importantly, must avoid early fouls to keep pace with the Cavs’ bigs.
