TORONTO — I am enough of an egomaniac that I want you to read every word of this column, but if even low-key praise for how the Yankees have performed in the toughest division during Aaron Boone’s tenure is going to set you off on a social media screed — or worse — now might be a good time to return to knitting or collecting stamps or whatever calms you in such moments.
In Boone’s eight seasons, the AL East has been MLB’s top-to-bottom most competitive division — and it hasn’t really been close. And the Yankees have been the lone constant of strong performance.
Consider:
