SALT LAKE CITY — Conor Sheary earned a second NHL chance with the Rangers well over a month ago, when the 33-year-old turned a professional tryout into a contract after a standout performance in the preseason.

After spending the majority of last season with the Lightning’s AHL affiliate in Syracuse, Sheary came to New York intent on proving he still belonged in the best hockey league in the world.

Entering the 23rd game of the season Saturday night against the Mammoth, however, the veteran wing was still searching for his first goal of the season.

“When you have zero goals, it’s hard to say that you’ve been, you know, producing or doing good things,” Sheary told The Post on Saturday morning before the Rangers took on the Mammoth at Delta Center. “I feel like I’ve had plenty of chances to score this year. I’ve had good opportunities throughout the year, and it just hasn’t gone in for me. I think if I get the first one, I think it’ll definitely help me take a weight off my shoulders and just play. Because in the back of my mind, you’re definitely thinking about it.
