Former UFC fighter Anthony Smith is sitting in a Nebraska jail while facing three felony charges.

It’s unclear what the charges are related to, but Smith is being held in Sarpy County Jail on charges of domestic violence causing serious bodily injury, terroristic threats and false imprisonment, online jail records showed.

Smith was booked into jail on Monday night at 8:44 p.m. local time and as of late Tuesday night, he remained behind bars.

TMZ was first to report the news of Smith’s arrest and said he had not seen a judge, nor had bond been set.

WOWT reported that a warrant had been issued for Smith on Monday and that he is due in court on Wednesday morning.

The ex-fighter had just turned 38 on Sunday.

Smith had only recently announced his retirement in 2025 after he suffered a knockout loss to Mingyang at UFC Fight Night.

He did fight for Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA in April and serves as an analyst on UFC broadcasts on Paramount+ for a pre and post-fight coverage

Smith’s MMA career spanned 17 years, and he had even challenged for the UFC light heavyweight championship in 2019 against Jon Jones.

TMZ reported that the domestic violence charge alone he is facing carries a sentence of up to 20 years if convicted.
