A former Ohio State long snapper is under arrest after allegedly getting into a disturbing domestic altercation, which left his girlfriend with a black eye and bruises around her throat.

Michael Roen McCullough is facing a felony count of strangulation after he allegedly punched his girlfriend several times and grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against a window, according to multiple reports.

Columbus Police responded to a domestic violence report on Aug. 29 at 9 p.m. They interviewed a woman, McCullough’s reported girlfriend, who detailed a harrowing scene that played out the prior morning.

Court records show that the woman told police she and McCullough had been driving home in his vehicle around 9:30 a.m. when they got into an argument, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

That led to McCullough breaking her phone and then violently assaulting her.

She told police that McCullough punched her face several times and then grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against a window, according to court docs, and indicated that she did not remember the rest of the car ride home until regaining consciousness after they arrived at their house.

“She said she could not breathe at all and felt panicked,” police said, per the Columbus Dispatch.

Officers noted that the woman had a black eye, a cut, a swollen lower lip and a bruise on the front of her throat where she said McCullough grabbed her.

McCullough is currently in Franklin County jail without bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.

A post on his X account showed that he medically retired from football in 2021, and just under a year ago, he was involved in a serious accident that cost him his right eye.
