noti.group’s Dylan Svoboda takes a look at this week’s betting trends and storylines.

A darkhorse MVP candidate emerges

Drake Maye has arrived.

The Patriots’ second-year quarterback is playing himself into the NFL MVP conversation, throwing for 1,744 yards with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions through seven games.

He’s now +700 to win the award at FanDuel Sportsbook, which are the third-best odds behind MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes (+125) and Josh Allen (+350).

Maye’s play has helped New England get out to one of the most surprising starts of the season.

Heading into their Week 8 matchup against the Browns, the Patriots are sitting in first place in the AFC East at 5-2.

Sad Jets season

It’s getting ugly for the Jets.

Gang Green fell to 0-7 after losing 13-6 to the Panthers in one of the few winnable games left on their schedule.

A winless season is now becoming a real possibility.

FanDuel Sportsbook is pricing a 0-17 Jets season at +2500.

They are a sizable 7.5-point underdog to the Joe Burrow-less Bengals in Cincinnati next week before hosting the Browns in Week 10 after their bye week.

The contending Colts?

The Colts are finally being looked at as a Super Bowl contender.

After another impressive win, this time a two-touchdown victory over the Chargers in Los Angeles, Indianapolis jumped to +1200 to win the Super Bowl, which is tied with the Rams for the 6th-best odds in football, just behind the defending champion Eagles (+1000).

As mentioned here before, the Colts entered the season as a long shot to even make the playoffs, but the amazing play from Daniel Jones now has them among the class of the league.

Betting on the NFL?

A Giant collapse

The Cardinals’ insane Week 5 loss to the Titans may have been outdone.

The Giants led the Broncos 19-0 going into the fourth quarter and 26-8 with six minutes left to go in the game.

With 37 seconds left, they also had a 32-30 lead.

And yet, they still left Denver with a loss.

Bo Nix and the Broncos scored a ridiculous 33 points during the fourth quarter, which was a Denver franchise record and the most fourth-quarter points scored by a team that was shutout through the first three quarters in NFL history.

At one point, the Broncos were as long as 30/1 to win the game at ESPN BET.
