Give one of Rick Pitino’s former stars an assist on Ian Jackson.

NBA superstar Donovan Mitchell, who developed into a lottery pick under Pitino at Louisville, spoke to Jackson during the recruiting process about what it’s like to play for the Hall of Fame coach.

“He told me that his years with Coach P were difficult years, but if he could do it all over again, he would do it. Him just saying that spoke volumes to me,” Jackson told The Post during St. John’s media day on Thursday. “That gave me a green light, maybe that’s where I want to be.”

A North Carolina transfer, the 6-foot-5 Jackson picked St. John’s over USC, Georgia, Illinois and several others.
