The NFL is coming down on DK Metcalf for his physical altercation with a Lions fan during the Steelers’ 29-24 win on Sunday.
The league will suspend Metcalf for two games without pay for the incident, which it deemed “conduct detrimental to the NFL.”
In a statement, the NFL said that Metcalf violated league policy, which states that “players may not enter the stands or otherwise confront fans at any time on game day and…if a player makes unnecessary physical contact with a fan in any way that constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct or presents crowd-control issues and/or risk of injury, he will be held accountable.”
Metcalf, 28, is planning on appealing the suspension, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.
The Steelers wide receiver had been captured in multiple videos — including on the CBS game feed — that circulated on social media, swiping at the fan.
Pittsburgh (9-6) plays the Browns and Ravens to finish the regular season; they can clinch the AFC North with a win over Cleveland.
