ChatGPT is joining the flood of apps offering yearly recaps for users. It’s rolling out a “Year in Review” feature that will show you a bunch of stats — like how many messages you sent to the chatbot in 2025 — as well as give you an AI-generated pixel art-style image that encompasses some of the topics you talked about this year.

The image I received showed an aquarium beside a game cartridge, an Instant Pot, and a computer screen, reflecting some of the questions I had related to retro game consoles, cooking, and my fish tank setup.

There are other personalized summaries, too, like a rundown of the themes most prevalent in your chats, a description of your chat style, and which day you sent the most messages to the chatbot. You’ll also see an “archetype” that puts you into a category based on how you used the app this year, such as “The Producer” or “The Navigator,” along with a customized award, like the one I got: “Instant Pot Prodigy.”

The yearly recaps are rolling out now to users in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. It’s only available if you’ve given ChatGPT permission to reference your past conversations and personal preferences. You can find your year in review by selecting the option on the homepage of the ChatGPT app on mobile or desktop, or by prompting ChatGPT to “show my year in review.”
