Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh and newly hired offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel were seated courtside on Thursday night at Crypto.com Arena for the Mavericks vs. Lakers game.

Harbaugh and McDaniel have been complimentary towards each other since McDaniel was hired, but during the game they looked like offensive collaborators sharing their thoughts about the upcoming season in real time.

Harbaugh, had led the Chargers to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons at the helm. McDaniel, who was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins for the last four seasons, is known as a schematic savant whose ready to bring spacing and speed to the Chargers high-potent offense led by Justin Herbert.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin spotted the duo right away and posted a photo of them mid-conversation.

“The best NFL coaching duo,” wrote one Chargers’ fan in the replies.

“Someone please mic them up,” wrote one user.

“Are they drawing up offensive plays on a napkin?” joked another.

With the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks trading blows in front of them, the Chargers’ new offensive brain trust could be thinking of ways unlock Herbert by merging Harbaugh’s run-first offense with McDaniel’s motion-heavy creativity.

It’s easy to overread a courtside sighting. But chemistry shows up in small tells: shared laughs, synchronized posture, the comfort of silence. On a hardwood night in L.A., Harbaugh and McDaniel looked aligned. And that’s the kind of snapshot that sticks, long after the final buzzer fades.
