Carson Beck is still without an NFL home.

After Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Miami quarterback is still on the board.

Two quarterbacks were picked ahead of Beck, who will now set his sights on Friday when Rounds 2 and 3 of the draft take place.

His fall is not entirely unexpected – most draft experts had the former Hurricanes signal-caller as a second- or third-round pick – although he was once considered a potential No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft.

Instead, it was Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza who went No. 1 overall to the Raiders.

Ty Simpson was surprisingly taken at No. 13 by the Rams, far earlier than most expected him to go.

In what is widely considered to be a weak quarterback class, Beck joins LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, Penn State’s Drew Allar and Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia, among others, as those at the position waiting to be drafted after Round 1.

Sports Illustrated reported Tuesday that some NFL teams were hearing that Beck was “a bit of a loner,” which could impact how teams view him.

Beck, who led Miami to the national championship game before falling Mendoza and the Hoosiers, went undrafted in the first round despite a strong 2025 season, during which he threw for 3,813 yards with 30 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions.

He spent the previous two seasons as the starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Beck was a backup in the Bulldogs’ quarterback room behind Stetson Bennett during Georgia’s back-to-back national championship run in 2021-22.

At 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, Beck features the size and pocket passing prowess to excel at the next level, but his detractors point to his lack of accuracy and physical tools as to why he may never become a starting quarterback in the NFL.
