A receiver on BYU’s football team has been arrested and charged with first-degree felony rape after a year-long investigation.

Wideout Parker Kingston was arrested Tuesday in Utah after authorities alleged he sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman last February, the Washington County Attorney’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday.

The woman alleges she was assaulted by Kingston on Feb. 23, 2025, in St. George (about 260 miles from BYU’s Provo campus), with local authorities investigating the case before turning things over to the county attorney’s office.

“Detectives with the St. George Police Department then gathered digital and forensic evidence,” the attorney’s office statement read. “They also conducted interviews with the parties involved and other witnesses. The information was then turned over to the Washington County Attorney’s Office for review.”

Kingston, 21, is being held without bail and will make a court appearance on Friday afternoon.

“The Washington County Attorney’s Office takes allegations of sexual assault seriously,” the attorney’s office added. “We thank the medical professionals and law enforcement officers who assisted with this investigation for their partnership and professionalism.

BYU said in a statement to media outlets that it became aware of the allegations against Kingston on Wednesday.

“BYU became aware today of the arrest of Parker Kingston,” the school said. “The university takes any allegation very seriously, and will cooperate with law enforcement. Due to federal and university privacy laws and practices for students, the university will not be able to provide additional comment.”

Kingston made 67 receptions and 928 yards with five touchdowns for the 12-2 Cougars this past season.
