Brian Burns’ dominant season couldn’t overcome the stench of the Giants’ 4-13 record.

Burns was named a Second-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press’ panel of 50 voters around the NFL, while the three First-Team edge rusher spots went to the Browns’ Myles Garrett (unanimous), the Texans’ Will Anderson and the Packers’ Micah Parsons.

Burns was on the Second Team with the Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson and Texans’ Danielle Hunter after finishing with 16 1/2 sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Only Garrett, who broke the NFL record for sacks in a season with 23, brought the quarterback to the ground more often than Burns.

It is the first career AP All-Pro selection for Burns, who was also named to his third Pro Bowl.

No other member of the Giants or Jets were named to the All-Pro teams.

Acquired from the Panthers in a trade before the 2024 season and given a massive five-year, $141 million extension, Burns has lived up to his paycheck as one of the premier pass-rushers and a leader for the Giants.

He was named the winner of the George Young-Ernie Accorsi Media Good Guy Award by the Giants local chapter of Professional Football Writers Association.

Burns received 57 points in the weighted voting scale, which gives three points for a First Team vote and one point for a Second Team vote.

He finished with the fourth-most points among edge rushers – 11 behind Parsons, who tallied 12.5 sacks in 14 games before suffering a season-ending injury.

The voting tally released by the Associated Press shows that Burns was completely left off 13 of the 50 ballots. The logical conclusion is that he was hurt by the Giants’ non-competitive record.

Disclosure: noti.group’s Ryan Dunleavy is one of the 50 voters on this panel. He voted for Brian Burns as a First-Teamer, Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas as a Second-Teamer and Jets punt returner Isaiah Williams as a Second-Teamer.
