He was a man possessed all summer, and he has grown so much as a leader in the eyes of his Giants teammates that he was voted one of their five captains.

This is a two-fold mission now for Brian Burns: Break his single-season career sack high (12.5) — and reach the playoffs for the first time after five years in Carolina and one miserable 3-14 season as a Giant.

“He’s been on a lot of not great teams,” Jon Runyan Jr. told The Post, “and he’s said multiple times that he’s sick of that. He’s part of that culture that’s turning around and changing it.”

It sounds as if Burns, in his second Giants season, may have been a landslide winner as he joins fellow captains Dexter Lawrence II, Bobby Okereke, Russell Wilson and Darius Slayton.
