Shedeur Sanders is getting a ton of love from sports bettors.

Despite not yet being the Browns’ starting quarterback, Sanders has received more money than any other player at BetMGM Sportsbook to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Sanders has 17.7 percent of the handle at BetMGM, which is more than five percentage points higher than the next best rookie (Ashton Jeanty, 12.4 percent).

The backing from the betting public has dropped Sanders’ odds to win the award from 30/1 to 25/1, which is tied for the ninth-best odds on the board.

Sanders, 23, is coming off a strong performance in the Browns’ first preseason game against the Panthers, but it’s far from a guarantee that the Colorado product will see enough playing time to compete for the award.

In that contest, Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while adding four rushes for 19 yards.

Even after that impressive performance, Sanders remains fourth on the team’s depth chart ahead of the Browns’ second preseason game.

Cleveland listed Joe Flacco as QB1, followed by the injured Kenny Pickett, rookie third-rounder Dillon Gabriel, and then Sanders, who was taken in the fifth round.

After Friday’s preseason game, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski deflected questions about his team’s quarterback position.

Betting on the NFL?

“We’re really just focused on developing our players. We’re in evaluation mode,” Stefanski said. “I’m pleased with where the guys are, but I’m not diving into a quarterback competition.”

Sanders’ chances to steal the starting job got a bit smaller when he suffered an oblique strain during Wednesday’s practice.

He is unlikely to play in the Browns’ next preseason game on Saturday against the Eagles.
