It has been a rough few weeks in South Bend, and the Fighting Irish are in need of a win to put their college football season back on track.

Notre Dame will host Purdue Saturday as they look to dig out from an 0-2 hole, while the Boilermakers hope to become the latest team to stun the Irish this season.

That would be quite a feat considering where oddsmakers have this line. Notre Dame is a 25.5-point favorite ahead of Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. national TV matchup.

What our Post expert thinks about Purdue vs. Notre Dame

Notre Dame’s chances to return to the College Football Playoff National Championship game are all but down the drain.

They fell from No. 6 in the AP college football poll to No. 24 after back-to-back losses to Miami and Texas A&M, and have just one team left on the schedule that is currently ranked — No. 25 USC.

Given the talent disparity between the two teams, Notre Dame should roll on Saturday, but covering a spread of more than three touchdowns won’t be a walk in the park.
