Scherzer will pitch in his first game of the postseason after a rocky end to the season for the Blue Jays. He allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts in the regular season, all losses, and posted a 10.20 ERA for September.
Castillo has been both a starter and a bullpen arm in the postseason, and he was effective in both roles. He pitched 4 2/3 innings in a Game 2 start against the Tigers, then pitched 1 1/3 innings as the closer in Game 5 of that series.
