Angel Reese spoke about taking “scary steps” and being in uncomfortable spaces after the two-time Chicago Sky All-Star’s trade to the Atlanta Dream on Monday.

The Victoria’s Secret model explained that she feels reinvigorated to win in Atlanta while speaking on a panel with Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers at Coach Story Sessions in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

“Transferring from Maryland and going to LSU and winning a championship, it feels like deja vu right now,” said Reese, who helped the LSU women’s basketball team win its first NCAA championship in 2023. “And I get chills right now because being a part of Chicago my first two years and going to Atlanta, I just feel that urge right now that I’m going to win again.

“And having that within me and just being able to do that — It’s not easy to go be by yourself in the dark and those lonely nights and those long nights thinking by yourself. Social media has it out there to be one way. But at the end of the day, you gotta sit with yourself and tell yourself what you want in life and continue to put yourself in spaces and rooms feel super uncomfortable.

“Because you’re not always going to be comfortable and you shouldn’t feel comfortable. So take those scary steps, even if it the person next you might not believe in you. Know that I believe in you and continue to push through.”

Reese’s remarks came after she attended the launch of her first-ever Victoria’s Secret global campaign for the brand’s “Season of Strapless” swim collection at the 5th Avenue flagship store in New York on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3 Reese, a Baltimore native, transferred to LSU from Maryland in 2022 and went on to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, averaging 23 points, 15.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.

After being selected by the Sky with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, Reese set the WNBA single-season total rebounding record that year with a total 446.

She led the league in double-doubles (23) last season.

The Sky missed the playoffs in both seasons Reese was with the team, and she made it clear last fall that she wasn’t happy.

Reese was suspended by the Sky for statements she made in a September interview with the Chicago Tribune, expressing her frustration with the franchise.

The suspension — which Reese served during one half of a Sky-Aces game on Sept. 7 — came after she publicly apologized to her teammates.

Reese missed the Sky’s final three games of the season due to a lingering back injury.

The 2026 WNBA regular season — the league’s 30th season — begins on May 8.

The Dream open the season against the at Minnesota on May 10.
