AEW got so much right at Forbidden Door on its way to All In.
Will Ospreay is on track to be the first English wrestler to win a major world championship on home soil and Mercedes Mone can now get redemption and win the belt she’s never held in the AEW Women’s World championship as the winners of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
Forbidden Door was carried by the top-heavy AEW portion of the card that delivered match of the year candidates. But the show still fell at times, feels dragged down by some of the matches that are there to just showcase New Japan, Stardom and CMLL talent — leading to this being a nearly five-hour show from the SAP Center in San Jose on a Sunday.
But AEW continues to hit on the big notes and that’s something that should keep bringing people back and invested in All In.
