After leaving practice early on Monday to be evaluated for a lower-body injury, Adam Edstrom did not suit up Tuesday night against the Stars.

The Rangers, who captured a 3-2 win in overtime, have classified Edstrom as day-to-day.

As a result, Conor Sheary drew back into the lineup for the first time since Nov. 24.

After serving as a healthy scratch in the previous three games, Sheary slotted onto the left wing of the fourth line next to Sam Carrick and Taylor Raddysh.

Raddysh was able to play despite missing practice on Monday due to personal reasons.

Brennan Othmann was recalled from AHL Hartford on Monday to ensure the Rangers had an extra forward.

“There’s a lot that goes into it,” head coach Mike Sullivan said of the decision to recall Othmann. “At the end of the day, it revolves around performance. There’s a lot of discussion that goes around those types of decisions and what the intentions are moving forward. I talk with Chris [Drury] constantly about that stuff. Otter has played pretty well most recently for Hartford and so he’s going to become part of this group here.”

Sullivan ultimately decided to go with Sheary over Othmann, who watched from the press box Tuesday night.

Igor Shesterkin stopped 23 of the 25 shots he saw in his season-high fifth straight game and 22nd appearance of the season.

The Rangers returned Dylan Garand to Hartford and recalled goalie Spencer Martin to serve as Shesterkin’s backup Tuesday at MSG.

“We don’t want anybody sitting on the sidelines too long,” Sullivan said. “We want guys playing, and that’s an important aspect that we try to manage all the time. Spencer’s a guy that we don’t have a lot of familiarity with. It gives us an opportunity to get to know him a bit, see him practice, things of that nature. Those are a few of the reasons why. [Jonathan Quick] is obviously back involved with the practice environment, and we’ll see where that goes moving forward. But we feel Quickie is making progress also.”

Matt Rempe missed his 19th straight game with an upper-body injury.

“He’s skating, he’s on a rehab schedule that our medical group has put together for him,” Sullivan said. “What I’ll tell you is everybody’s really encouraged with the progress that he’s making. He’s on the ice a certain amount of days. He’s off the ice a certain amount of days. That schedule has been built out. They adjust depending on progress, but there’s a fairly detailed schedule built out on his return-to-play plan. He’s going through that process.”
