It was 9-1, Yankees over the Tigers after the fourth inning and not even a ravaged, combustible bullpen could put this one in jeopardy.

So it ended 9-3 on a Bronx night filled with commemoration of the 24th anniversary of September 11 with President Donald Trump in attendance after visiting the Yankees clubhouse while chatting with Aaron Judge before the game.

Two at-bats later for No. 99 and he had tied Joe DiMaggio for fourth on the all-time Yankees home run list when he bashed career No. 360 in the first inning against Tyler Holton and then No. 361 in the third inning against Sawyer Gipson-Long. These were his 45th and 46th of the year.

“It was meaningful to see your superstar go out there and do that and I know what it meant to Aaron,” manager Aaron Boone said. “I know — and [the media] knows — how impactful and important that ‘NY’ is that he wears on the Pinstripes and what it is to represent this city as one of the faces of the city as a sports figure.
