The Jets turned to their past hoping to improve their future. But first, they need to get through the present.
New coach Aaron Glenn takes over the Jets, returning to the team with whom he was a first-round pick and a Pro Bowl cornerback. The Jets hope they finally found the man to end the 14-year playoff drought and return the franchise to respectability.
“I know what it’s like to be a Jet,” Glenn said. “I know the pain and all the things the fans have been through. I might have been gone from here, but I was never gone in spirit, so I get it. That sticks with me a ton. I understand the pain. I’m hoping, I’m praying, I expect to make the pain go away. I think about that every day.”
He may be able to make the pain go away but no one should expect it to happen immediately. The Jets enter the 2025 season with lower expectations around them than the past two years when Aaron Rodgers drove up playoff, and even Super Bowl, hopes.
