GREEN BAY — New Jets coach Aaron Glenn has stressed cutting down on penalties this summer. He still has some work to do.

The Jets were called for 12 penalties in Saturday night’s 30-10 preseason win over the Packers with eight accepted or not offsetting.

Three of the penalties were personal fouls that drew Glenn’s ire.

“The only thing that wasn’t our brand is the amount of penalties that we had,” Glenn said. “Some of those penalties were undisciplined penalties. We’ve got to clean those up.”

Defensive end Micheal Clemons, who was plagued by dumb penalties last year, drew a personal foul for unnecessary roughness when he got into a fight with Packers tackle Zach Tom, who also was flagged on the play.

The penalties offset but Glenn pulled Clemons from the game and got in Clemons’ face as he reached the sideline, clearly expressing his displeasure.

“I have to address that,” Glenn said of the sideline talk.

Later in the first half, the Jets drew two straight unnecessary roughness penalties for late hits on the sideline.

Defensive end Eric Watts and linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball were the offenders this time. Glenn chewed out McCrary-Ball when he came to the sideline.

A 73-yard touchdown by Donovan Edwards was wiped out by a holding penalty on Liam Fornadel in the fourth quarter.

WR Allen Lazard was seen leaving the locker room with his right arm in a sling.

Glenn said he has a shoulder injury that will be further evaluated.

RB Isaiah Davis left the game with an ankle injury but Glenn said he thinks he’s “fine.”

RB Kene Nwangwu has a calf injury but Glenn said it was not serious.

Safety Tony Adams injured his thigh but Glenn did not seem concerned.

DT Jay Tufele had a big night.

He had a 1.5 sacks and recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

Tufele is one of several players fighting for a role on the interior of the defensive line.

With Quinnen Williams (calf) and Byron Cowart (ankle) sidelined, Tufele got plenty of playing time on Saturday night and made the most of it.

“It’s the best feeling,” Tufele said of scoring a touchdown. “It’s a defensive turnover and we capitalized on it.”

Tufele tried to give the ball to Glenn, but Glenn told him to keep it.

CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse did not make the trip to Green Bay because of a medical issue but Glenn said he is expected back soon.

The other players who did not make the trip were all injured: QB Tyrod Taylor (knee), WR Xavier Gipson (shoulder), CB Kris Boyd (shoulder), CB Azareye’h Thomas (shoulder), G John Simpson (back), TE Mason Taylor (ankle), DT’s Cowart (ankle) and Williams (calf).
