Aaron Glenn’s first order of business when he and the Jets arrived home from London should have been imploring his leaders on offense to conduct a players-only meeting, same as his defensive players did before the trip.
The Jets defense had allowed an average of 31.4 points in the first five games, worst in the league.
And the response in the 13-11 loss to the Broncos on Sunday was impressive, producing the team’s first forced turnover of the season and giving the Jets an 11-10 lead by forcing a second-half safety.
The players-only meeting, along with the return of edge rusher Jermaine Johnson and the addition of new cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (who forced the turnover), helped make the Jets defense look like an entirely new unit in London.
