Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges committed to Tennessee on Wednesday, marking a victory for the Volunteers and ending the chase for the highly touted prospect.

Gabriel Georges, ESPN and 247Sports’ No. 2 running back in the country for the class of 2027, selected Tennessee over Ohio State on Wednesday.

He had narrowed his options down to the two powerhouses while also considering Ole Miss and Georgia early in the recruitment process.

“This was probably the most difficult decision that I’ve had to make in my life, and this decision was not taken lightly,” Gabriel Georges said Wednesday. “With this decision, I am deciding to trust my heart. I am choosing where I feel the most at home and where I will feel the most comfortable while achieving my goals.”

Gabriel Georges joins quarterback Faizon Brandon and wide receiver Tristen Keys as five-star recruits secured by the Vols in the past two years.

Vols head coach Josh Heupel and running backs coach De’Rail Sims played a major role in bringing Gabriel Georges to Knoxville, per ESPN.

Hailing from Quebec, Canada, Gabriel Georges moved to Tennessee before his sophomore year to better pursue a future in major college football.

He’s rushed for 2,852 yards and 41 touchdowns in two varsity seasons at the Baylor School in Chattanooga. He helped lead the team to a state title game appearance in 2024.

Before his commitment, Gabriel Georges was the last five-star prospect remaining on ESPN’s board.

Should he sign this winter, Gabriel Georges will become Tennessee’s highest-ranked addition at running back since Bryce Brown, the then-No. 2 rusher, signed in 2009.
