The knockout rounds in the 2026 World Cup continue with a first place vs. third place showdown between Germany and Panama.

With two wins and one loss, Germany finished atop Group E. Die Mannschaft’s first win came in their opener, a 7-1 blowout against Curaçao. They defeated Ivory Coast, but fell to Ecuador in the group stage finale.

Panama finished in third place behind the United States and Australia, but qualified for the knockouts as one of the top eight third place teams across all groups. Los Canaleros lost their opener, 4-1, to the USMNT, before defeating Turkey 1-0 and drawing against Australia.
