Sauce Gardner issued a five-word farewell to New York Jets fans moments before it was announced that the star cornerback had been dealt ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

“New York it’s been real,” Gardner posted to X on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by a green heart emoji.

The cornerback was “stunned” by the trade, his brother and agent, Allante, told ESPN, and that the two had no idea it was coming.

Within minutes of his post, reports flooded social media confirming that the former fourth overall draft pick had been traded to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for two first-round picks and wide receiver AD Mitchell.

Gardner, 25, had just signed a four-year, $120.4 million extension on July 15, a deal that made him the NFL’s highest paid cornerback.

“This is only the beginning,” Gardner posted to X following the announcement of his extension. “I appreciate the Jets organization for believing in me, my teammates for the blood, sweat, & tears we put in, and JETS NATION… I appreciate y’all supporting me.”

His extension was announced just one day after New York reached a long-term agreement with star wideout Garrett Wilson — seemingly locking up its young core as it entered the Aaron Glenn era.

That vision lasted all of two months, as the 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year’s tenure with the Jets came to an end after just three-plus seasons.

Gardner had six passes defended and 20 tackles with New York this season.

The Jets — who have posted a miserable 1-7 record this season — could have more moves on the way ahead of Tuesday’s deadline at 4 p.m. ET.

They reportedly also sent defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys in exchange for a first-round pick and more, per NFL Network.

Gardner joins the AFC South-leading Colts (7-2), who bolstered their lineup as they prepare for a playoff push.
