The New York Jets are entering Week 8 winless, and after nearly a week of speculation, the team finally made a decision yesterday who will start at quarterback this afternoon in Cincinnati.
Head coach Aaron Glenn replaced starting QB Justin Fields with backup Tyrod Taylor in the second half of last week’s 6-13 loss to Carolina, and though Glenn kept his starter decision a mystery all week, an injury forced the team to announce that they would be sticking with Fields after Taylor was ruled out due to a bone bruise on his knee.
The Bengals are coming into Week 8 with a 3-4 record, but they snapped a four-game losing skid in a huge Thursday Night Football victory in Week 7; with Joe Flacco at QB for them, the Week 7 matchup with Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers marked a rare occasion where both starting QBs were over 40. Despite the close game, the Bengals pulled ahead to win 33-31.
