Why Micah Parsons thinks it’ll be ‘painful’ to sack Dak Prescott

If it comes down to sacking Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons will be doing it with a bit of a heavy heart on Sunday night.

The star Packers edge rusher is returning to Dallas for the first time this weekend since the Cowboys traded him away before the start of the season, ending a four-year run in the Lone Star State after contract talks never went anywhere.

Though Parsons tried not to make a big deal over the upcoming game in Dallas during a conversation with the Associated Press on Tuesday, he did express how difficult taking his former teammate down would be.

“It’s going to be painful,” Parsons told the AP. “That’s my guy. He was always like a good mentor for me. But you know how it is. He always told me if I ever faced him that it’ll be a great matchup, so I’m excited to see what Sunday brings itself.”

The Week 4 contest became a must-see event after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made the shock trade. So far in a small sample, the Packers and Cowboys have seen their respective seasons go in rather different directions.

Green Bay, which did suffer an upset loss to the Browns last weekend, is 2-1 through the first three weeks, while the Cowboys are sitting at 1-2 with a defense that has struggled since Parsons was moved.

The 397.7 yards per game the Cowboys have given up is the third-most in the NFL, and the 288 they’ve yielded through the air per contest is the most in the league.

Parsons has quickly become a key piece of the Packers’ defense and has 1.5 sacks and five tackles in his first three games.

But don’t count on Parsons to make Sunday’s game a big deal, at least publicly, in the lead-up.

“I accepted my fate weeks ago when the trade happened,” Parsons said. “So, for me, it’s just all about playing another game and just doing what I do best, and that’s just be a disruptive football player. I think the media and the fans are trying to blow it up to be such a big thing.

“But I just look at it as just another game at AT&T [Stadium].”
