Two of the greatest living boxers are about to meet for the first time.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, Ring Magazine Super middleweight title holder Canelo Álvarez is stepping into the ring against the undefeated Terence “Bud” Crawford in what might be the year’s biggest TKO Boxing match at the Raiders’ home, aka Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
Once the victor is crowned they will hold the Ring, WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles.
“This is the tail end of my career,” the 37-year-old Crawford, who sports a spotless 41-0 record, said. “…I want Canelo Alvarez.”
Prior to this match, the elite fighters have never met; this is largely due to the fact that Crawford weighed in at 154 pounds while Álvarez is 168. The two will battle at 168, otherwise known as Super middleweight.
“Greatness means everything to me now,” Crawford added. “I’ve got something to do that no fighter has ever done before and that’s become three-time undisputed champion in the male division.”
“Crawford is one of the best out there, and…I like to share the ring with that kind of fighter,” Álvarez said when the fight was initially announced. “It’s my pleasure.”
