Scores of protein bars were recalled Wednesday after customers found multiple foreign objects — including hairnets — in their snacks.

Doctors Scientific Organica voluntarily recalled a portion of its Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars “out of an abundance of caution,” the Food and Drug Administration said in a bulletin.

The company — whose products are “baked by science” — sells the protein bars at retail locations run by Burn Boot Camp, a gym franchise, throughout the nation.

Several consumers contacted the company to report that they found what appeared to be disposable hairnets, shrink wrap and parchment paper in their treats.

“Foodborne foreign objects that are flexible and not sharp may cause minor injuries such as transient choking or gastrointestinal system injury,” according to the FDA.

No illnesses have been reported at this time.

Only the 60-gram Triple Chocolate Almond flavor bars were affected by the possible exposure, Doctors Scientific Organica said.

The tainting affected batches 181, 184 and 187, the lot numbers of which can be found on the back of each individual protein bar package.

People who bought the recalled protein bars shouldn’t eat them, but instead return to the place of purchase or destroy them, the company said.
