There always seem to be a few extra dollops of agita around the Knicks this year, a few extra helpings of acid indigestion. Part of the reason there seems to be a chronic discomfort plaguing those who most care about the Knicks is self-evident: there really has been a dearth of comfortable days for them so far this season.

And it doesn’t help that one of those days that did seem destined for a chaise lounge, a frozen drink and a fat stogie — a night when they were 15-point favorites at home against the tankapaloozing Pacers — wound up going terribly sideways. One miracle comeback and one near-miracle wasn’t enough to rid the Knicks of one distinct feeling as they headed for the Jersey Turnpike for their Wednesday night game with the 76ers:

Dyspepsia.

There was a brief, shining moment in the aftermath of the NBA Cup win when the Knicks were on such a roll it seemed they were almost allergic to losing. That reached its apex on New Year’s Eve, when the Knicks were up 18 at San Antonio and cruising.
