Not only does Mike Repole own the favorite in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, but the deep-pocketed New Yorker also has the headliner in Friday’s Kentucky Oaks.
Zany, a Kentucky-bred trained by Todd Pletcher, is the 4-1 favorite to win the 152nd running of the Oaks, and drew No. 2 position in this 14-horse field.
If Zany finishes first, it would be Pletcher’s fifth win at the Oaks, tying him with D. Wayne Lukas and Woody Stephens for the most victories in this famous race.
This will be Zany’s fourth career start, and although she won three of them, her last time out she finished second to No. 11 Percy’s Bar in the Ashland Stakes.
Percy’s Bar is a co-third favorite, along with No. 1 Explora at 6-1 odds.
No. 5 Meaning is the second favorite at 5-1 odds and is coming into the Oaks on a two-race winning streak after triumphing at the Santa Anita Oaks on April 4.
