Once Dylan Darling’s layup dropped in as the buzzer sounded, Tyrone Grant’s phone lit up like a Christmas tree.

Phone and video calls and text messages came flooding in. They were mostly from familiar numbers — belonging to members of the last St. John’s team to reach the Sweet 16.

“I probably had 10 out of the 13 [guys on the team] call me or text me less than a minute after that shot,” Grant told The Post in a phone interview Tuesday. “Everybody was watching, everybody was listening and everybody was excited, baby.”

The emotional leader and starting center on the 1998-99 Elite Eight team, Grant has spent a lot of time around these Johnnies over the last season.
