A woman was left unable to close her eyes after undergoing plastic surgery with a ‘bogus’ Russian medic.

Alleged ‘pseudo’ plastic surgeon Tatyana Stankevich, 38, who denies any wrongdoing, has been put under house arrest pending a trial.

One of her patients – named Lyubov, 53, from Moscow – went to her for a blepharoplasty to remove excess skin from the lower eyelids, but says she suffered severe complications.

‘I had huge bruises under my eyes after the surgery,’ said Lyubov. ‘My eyelids began to turn inside out, severe tearing began.’

She was left unable to close her eyes. ‘I realised something was badly wrong. But [the surgeon] kept convincing me that the symptoms would pass, the skin would tighten.

‘She injected the lower eyelids with medication. I think she was lulling me into a false sense of security.

‘Then she went on vacation… I was getting worse and worse.’

She went to another clinic for advice and was immediately told she needed urgent treatment to rectify the horror.

Lyubov went on to report what had happened to her to law enforcement.

The surgery was at Stankevich’s Moscow apartment, from where she ran her business ‘Beauty Therapy’.

But investigators say that she was just a beauty therapist and not qualified to conduct surgery.

She operated on multiple people, according to reports, and clients did not ask her for her qualifications.

The company director would tell her patients that she had performed surgeries at home before and that they had always gone well, according to reports.

However two other female patients also filed complaints with the Russian Investigative Committee.

One needed intensive care treatment after reportedly being operated on in a medical centre.

Stankevich’s home was raided by police, who allegedly found that she was not qualified to perform surgeries.

‘During the searches, the suspect’s mobile phone was found, which contained images of the procedures she had performed,’ said the committee.

‘Unregistered medical drugs were also found. It was established that the operations were carried out both in the absence of an appropriate license at a medical centre and at home by a doctor who did not have an education in plastic surgery.

‘The suspect was detained. She was placed under house arrest.’

‘This is a complete fake. It’s a criminal case, there is simply no crime. If the patient herself says that she is happy with everything, then there is simply no crime,’ Stankevich reportedly insisted.

‘No operations were performed in the apartment. Both were in the clinic. But one of the patients knew my home address. She came once late in the evening so that I could provide her with some help,’ Stankevich claims, according to REN TV.

‘The second patient, the one with the eyelids, she violated all the recommendations, she was self-medicating,’ she added.

Lyubov maintains that Stankevich chose to operate on her at her home and had done the same to ‘many other people’ as well as at ‘clients’ homes’.

Police are continuing to investigate, including looking into whether any more patients seeking cheap surgeries could have been affected.

She will remain under house arrest until a court hearing on January 29.
