A woman who was in a sexual relationship with an aeroplane for nine years has revealed that she has broken up with it, but they still remain friends.

Warehouse worker Michele Köbke, 36, first entered the torrid affair with the Boeing 737-800, which she affectionately called ‘Darling’, in 2014.

She previously said of ‘Darling’: ‘The 737-800 is very attractive and sexy to me. He’s the most beautifully built, and he’s a very attractive and elegant aircraft.’

But she revealed that she has since broken up with her partner, telling Bild the breakup was amicable: ‘We’re still friends.’

Michele was diagnosed as an objectophile years ago: ‘I’m normal. Admittedly, at first I thought I was crazy. But then I found out that I’m an objectophile. People are just very diverse in the way they structure their relationships.’

‘It’s like a normal relationship, we have relaxing evenings together and when we go to bed, we cuddle and fall asleep together’, she added.

What Michele found particularly irresistible about the 737-800 were its winglets.

‘When I touch his wings, I get immediately sweaty palms and get excited,’ she revealed, adding that she wanted ‘to marry my sweetheart and live with him in a hangar – it’s just a special kind of love that doesn’t hurt anybody.’

Forensic psychiatrist and private lecturer Dr. Werner Platz told the newspaper that there are around 40 people across the world known to have the disorder.

‘It is a so-called paraphilia, a disorder of sexual preference. But as long as it does not cause suffering or conflict, it cannot be classified as pathological or in need of treatment’, he said.

Michele previously spoke of the difficulties of being in a relationship with the plane: ‘A relationship with a plane is not easy and at times difficult.

‘I can only get close to him when I fly with him or when I can get to him in the hangar, which has only happened once in my life.’

Michele isn’t the only one who has fallen for a Boeing 737.

Sarah Rodo, from Dortmund, Germany, found love on her first flight with a Boeing 737 – after an unfulfilling attempt to date humans.

Since then, the 23-year-old has also ‘met’ 60 figurines and three larger models who she considers part of a ‘collective being’ that she is dating, and so she often refers to her lovers as one.
