As the Knicks, the Nets and the Rangers limp through the start of the second half of their respective regular seasons, it’s already getting to be that time to start considering how they — as well as the recently rolling Islanders — will approach the upcoming trade deadlines in their leagues.
More immediate decisions must be made by the two local NBA franchises, with that deadline drawing near more rapidly, barely two weeks away on Feb.5.
The NHL deadline is more than a month later on March 6, after the league takes a three-week break in February to allow its players and coaches to compete at the Winter Olympics in Milan.
